‘Dirty deal’: protesters disrupt Joe Manchin event over Mountain Valley pipeline

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:08:14 GMT

WASHINGTON — Sen. Joe Manchin’s latest legislative victory is stirring up anti-pipeline sentiment in the U.S. capital. Protesters who snuck into the event unfurled banners and locked arms today at a D.C. event shortly after the West Virginia Democrat took the stage. Climate activists are furious that fast-tracking Manchin’s Mountain Valley pipeline project was part of the debt-ceiling agreement passed last week. Manchin is spearheading efforts to overhaul the U.S. permitting process — a push critics fear will allow more fossil fuel production as it clears the way for developing critical minerals and green-energy transmission. This repor...

Eric Holcomb, who can’t seek reelection because of term limits.Hill expects to make a decision in the coming weeks as he and his wife “are carefully praying for guidance,” he said in a statement provided to The Associated Press by his political advising firm.“At a time when Hoosiers are hungry for fresh leadership, it is crucial that we distinguish between those who genuinely represent c...

Copper helped the team pull off a stunning 19-point comeback against the New York Liberty on Sunday, scoring 17 of her 27 points in the third quarter to fuel the rally. She's gotten some help with the offseason additions this year of Courtney Williams, Marina Mabrey and Elizabeth Williams.‘‘When the moment comes, I’m ready and I’m built for it,’’ Copper said. ‘‘But I have teammates around me, so I don’t have to do it by myself.’’Whil...

According to the original Boppy lounger recall, suffocation risks could occur when infants roll, move or are placed in positions that obstruct breathing. Additionally, babies who roll off the lounger can face suffocation risk if they roll onto heavier materials, like adult pillows, which CPSC says happened to one of the infants.RECALLED (L-R): Boppy Original Newborn Lounger, Boppy Preferred Newborn Lounger, and Pottery Barn Kids Boppy Newborn Lounger.
