DULUTH, Minn. — A cougar has been meandering around the area in recent days, captured by multiple video cameras, most recently in the northern neighborhoods of the city.Between video doorbell cameras, security cameras and trail cameras, not much happens around the city without it getting reported, said Kipp Duncan, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer for eastern Duluth.Duncan has received multiple videos of the big cat. While some could have been recorded anywhere, he’s sure of one location at the intersection of McQuade Road and the Minnesota Highway 61 Expressway.“I know for sure the video from Les Grumdahl’s office is 100% authentic because I know that parking lot and the cat is walking through the parking lot,” Duncan said, noting it’s likely the other videos are authentic as well considering the timing.Other, as-yet-unconfirmed sightings put the cat near Glenwood and Everett streets and just off Howard Gnesen Road in the Kenwood neighborhood, al...

Missouri climatologist: Heat causing high evaporation rates, no rainfall to replace it

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:59:02 GMT

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – It's a hot topic, literally. What does this heat mean for drought conditions across the state? While many parts of Missouri saw rainfall earlier this month and drought conditions are improving, it's this heat that could cause the state to take two steps backwards because the evaporation rate is that much higher."We're losing potentially two-tenths of an inch of rainfall that fell on those fields every day when it gets this hot," Missouri Department of Natural Resources Director Dru Buntin said. "It increases the loss of that moisture in the soil when you have these types of extreme heat."After the driest April and May since 1988 and now the heat, the agriculture industry continues to struggle. Farmers are left with tough decisions like sending cattle to market early due to a lack of feed. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Daily News ...

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis County man will spend decades behind bars after killing a man he caught sleeping with his girlfriend several years ago. A judge has sentenced Edward Mosely, 51, to 25 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter and three years for armed criminal action in the case. A jury convicted Mosely of these crimes earlier this year. According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, on Dec. 16, 2019, Mosely shot and killed a man named Michael Moore in the 7300 block of Sapphire Avenue. St. Louis police won’t respond in person to car break-ins Investigators say the confession was the centerpiece of the state’s case, though the Mosely's attorneys asked for probation. Democrat Adam Frisch leads against GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert in poll for 2024 race

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:59:02 GMT

A new poll released Tuesday by Adam Frisch’s congressional campaign shows the former Aspen city councilman narrowly leading U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in one of the most closely watched House races in the country — the first time the Democrat has held an edge over his GOP nemesis. The poll, conducted this month by Keating Research among 801 3rd Congressional District residents likely to vote next year, shows Frisch with a 50% to 48% lead. Because the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5%, president and founder Chris Keating conceded that the results signify, for all intents and purposes, a tie.But the trajectory for Frisch, Keating said, is going the right way. In an October 2022 poll the firm conducted on last November’s race, it was Boebert who held the 2% lead. She ended up defeating Frisch by fewer than 600 votes — a margin so thin it triggered an automatic recount.“So we’re seeing a steady improvement in Adam’s numbers,” Keating said at a Tuesday morning press conferenc...
