SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A cybersecurity symposium was held at Rivers Casino on Tuesday. The theme of this year's event was to discuss trending cyber threats that companies and individuals face. Some of the threats include AI driven voice hacking. Officials said cybersecurity is important because it is something that some businesses do not pay attention to. They also want to ensure businesses know what resources are available to them so they do not wait until it is too late. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! "It is really hard to get executives and business owners to actually understand that this is something they have to work on every day," LogicalNet CEO Mike Omara said. "Hackers work every single day, and we have to be on defense and make sure we have the right tools available to protect our customers networks."Tuesday's event was the second annual Capital Region Cybersecurity Symposium.

Banner night will mean different things to different Nuggets, from Nikola Jokic’s joy watching 2023 playoff highlights to Michael Malone’s fierce turn-the-page mindset

SAN DIEGO — The range of emotions that will soon engulf Nuggets personnel on championship banner night is best filtered and summarized through three viewpoints. There’s Reggie Jackson, a child of Colorado Springs who’s still convinced he won’t be awake even as the 2022-23 Nuggets are being immortalized in the rafters of Ball Arena on Oct. 24. When new teammate and fellow NBA journeyman Justin Holiday became aware Jackson was a hometown kid — “that’s crazy,” he said — Jackson’s response was as simple as, “Yeah, I’m gonna wake up soon. Best dream ever, bro.”He keeps telling his brother the same thing. The 33-year-old first-time NBA champ definitively expects to cry.“There’s no way this can be real,” Jackson said. “I’m with a bunch of people that I made great bonds with over my career. Back home. In front of family. Yeah, I’m probably the happiest person on the team. Like I said, I never feel like this is real...

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:40:41 GMT

Shortly after another strong performance in a Colorado Avalanche exhibition game Sunday night, Swedish forward Fredrik Olofsson borrowed from the words and wisdom of one of America’s finest fictional coaches, Ted Lasso.Olofsson, whom the Avs acquired for future considerations from the Dallas Stars in mid-June, is part of camp’s biggest battle — the one for the fourth-line center role. Given how he’s played and practiced, Olofsson likely would be Colorado’s No. 4 center if opening night was today.Does he think he’s done enough?“You have to kind of be able when you go home and close your eyes for the night to be happy with the effort you put in,” Olofsson said. “You can’t control if you score every single one or make every single stop.“You’ve just got to be a goldfish. Just go out there and whatever happens, try to learn from it and go on to the next one. The second you start worrying about if you’ve done enough or if you’re ...

Riling PG&E, San Jose approves its own electric utility, will study feasibility

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:40:41 GMT

In a major shake-up of the South Bay’s energy landscape, the San Jose City Council on Tuesday officially approved the creation of a city-run electric utility in response to Pacific Gas & Electric’s questionable track record and demand for more power supply — a decision that could become one of its most consequential this year.San Jose councilmembers voted unanimously to establish a new department called “San Jose Power” that may one day provide electric lines to future development in the city’s downtown and northern neighborhoods around transportation, housing and industrial centers. The city will first study the project’s feasibility, including whether it can produce rates cheaper than PG&E. As part of Tuesday’s vote, the city will also apply to tap into a new transmission line that’s set to come online in 2028 and become the foundation of the San Jose Power. Officials maintain that the city isn’t looking to take over any of PG...
